The Yasmin Pill Can Cause Many Serious Health Issues

YAZ Pill Increases Cardiovascular Risks, Especially For Women Who Smoke

Attorneys representing cases against Bayer want you to be informed. Many women can face very serious health issues when taking the Yasmin pill for birth control, including the following:

Myocardial infarction

An increased risk of myocardial infarction has been attributed to taking the Yasmin pill. This risk is much greater in smokers or women with other underlying risk factors for coronary-artery disease such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, morbid obesity, and diabetes. The relative risk of heart attack for current oral contraceptive users has been estimated to be two to six. The risk is very low under the age of 30.

Smoking in combination with oral contraceptive use has been shown to contribute greatly to the risk of myocardial infarctions in women older than mid-30s with smoking accounting for the majority of excess cases. Mortality rates associated with circulatory disease have been shown to rise significantly in smokers over the age of 35 and nonsmokers over the age of 40 among women who use these drugs.

The Yasmin pill may compound the effects of well-known risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemias, age and obesity. Oral contraceptives have also been shown to increase blood pressure among users. Similar effects or risk factors have been associated with an increased risk of heart disease. The medications must be used with caution in women with cardiovascular disease risk factors.

Thromboembolism

An increased risk of thromboembolic and thrombotic disease associated with the use of oral contraceptives is well established. The risk of thromboembolic disease facing users is not related to length of use and disappears after pill use is stopped.

Cerebrovascular diseases

Oral contraceptives have been shown to increase both the relative and attributable risks of cerebrovascular events (thrombotic and hemorrhagic strokes). Generally, the risk is greatest among women over 35, especially hypertensive women who also smoke.

Ocular Lesions

Clinical case reports exist of retinal thrombosis associated with oral contraceptive users. The drugs should be discontinued if there is unexplained partial or complete loss of vision; onset of proptosis or diplopia; papilledema; or retinal vascular lesions. See your eye doctor immediately.

Yaz birth control pill side effects  are always a risk. Anyone taking the medication should also contact their physician immediately upon noticing:

  • Fast occurring numbness or weakness
  • Chest pains
  • Change in severity of migraine headaches
  • Stomach pains
  • Jaundice indications
  • A breast lump
  • Symptoms of depression

Attorneys would like you to know that a number of federal suits have been filed in the past few years, and may be consolidated in order to better manage pretrial proceedings. Consolidation will help avoid inconsistent pretrial rulings and repetitious discovery. It will also reduce the burden on the plaintiffs who have already suffered greatly.

Seek legal advice after suffering any injuries relating to these drugs. If you or someone you know has been harmed due to faulty promises in the misleading advertising campaign, the LegalTube directory will be able to help you find the perfect attorney.
